 The allies started a counter offensive after Japan took over their territories and slowly gained back their territory  Important battles  Pearl Harbor  Coral Sea  Midway  Tarawa  Truk  Phillipine Sea  Okinawa  Iwo Jima  Over 350,000 Americans soldiers died  Over 2,100,000 Japanese soldiers died  Japan surrendered August 15 th 1945
