Havelock Community Missionary Baptist Church MISSIONS Pastor: Dwayne Shy Sr.

Mission(s): Mission(s): A sending out with authority to perform a special service in the area of preacher, teacher, converter (soul winning) in the things of Christ. Missionary: A person who is sent on a mission, specifically a mission relating to the church (body of Christ).

Missions: Most foreign missions today are already established and organized through a bona-fide church ministry. The established mission is supported spiritually, physically, materially, and financially, through the home church or another church ministry partner.

Missions: The work of a missionary date as far back as Old Testament Scripture. Ex 12:48-49, Lev 19: Kings 17:27-39 demonstrate the first priest being sent out as a missionary. The priest was given specific instructions concerning the things of God.

Missions: New testament Scripture demonstrate missionaries tasked with spreading the gospel message. The very first missionary in New Testament Scripture was Jesus Christ (Matt 4:23-25). Christ was a missionary with a mission to make disciples. He set an example to be followed.

Missions: Christ passed the anointed “mantle” of missionary work upon the Apostle Paul in whom He had given a world vision for missions work (Acts 10:9-20). Christ set the pattern for missionary work and the Apostles took it to another level (in Christ).

Missions: The first Missionary work of Paul (and Barnabas) was to a place called Seleucia. Missionary work is not normally done alone. There is always an organized sending out that aligns itself with the Word and Spirit of God (Acts 13:1-3).

Missions: World missions has and will always be a work of the church (Rom 16:25-26). Mission work must have the ability and the determination to cross all race barriers in all nations, and yet be effective (1 Cor 9:19-23).

Missions: The work and support of mission work awaits those who are willing to participate in the calling (1 Cor 16:5-9). Mission work allows us to demonstrate a two-fold area of service (2 Cor 5:18-21). 1.Leading others to Christ. 2.Representing Christ as His Ambassador from a global view.

Missions: HCMBC echo’s the very sentiment of the Apostle Paul (2 Cor 6:1-13). Our desire is to be disciples unto others abroad, whether we are financially supporting the work, or whether we are in the field ourselves. Our hearts are ready to build up others.

Missions: In an effort for others to become spiritual descendents of Abraham, the missionary field serves as the vehicle for arriving towards getting them there. It is the responsibility of the church (via missionaries) to spread faith throughout the world (Col 1:24-29).

Missions: The Apostle Paul had given a missionary (evangelistically) mandate to Pastor Timothy…..preach to the unsaved…..and not just at home (2 Tim 4:1-5). Why? Because Paul himself was commissioned to further faith of God’s elect, so that they will be built in the fullness of Christian knowledge.

Missions: It is the responsibility of the body of Christ to sustain the missionary work through prayer, fasting and financial support (Col 4:3-4, Acts 13:2, Phil 4:15- 19). Most ministries lack, because of what they fail to do in support of missionary work. According to Scripture, God has promised to sustain those (churches) who support missions work.

Missions: HCMBC is looking forward to not only supporting the missionary field, but are looking for a return from the good things the missions field is doing. We look forward to the day that our very own rep will be able to journey into the harvest where we are sowing seed.
