Why I Chose This Person I am a huge fan, and I am very inspired by how he uses his career to spread his beliefs.

Childhood Surprisingly, he was born in the Philippines, while his father was on a mission trip. Three years later, the entire family moved back to Jacksonville, Florida. He grew up on a farm, and was homeschooled by his mother, along with his 4 older siblings. He often found time to play sports with his older brothers on a regular basis. His parents were missionaries, so he grew up with a strong religious background.

Football When he officially started playing football on a team, it was at Lakeshore Athletic Association. In 8 th grade, he played as quarterback on Jacksonville Trinity Christian Academy’s JV team. Even then, the coaches were questioning whether he should have been playing as quarterback or fullback. Starting his sophomore year, he played quarterback at Nease High School.

First Mission Trip When he was 15, he went on his first mission trip to the Philippines. He traveled from school to school spreading the gospel to as many people as he could to teach about God. Talking to large crowds like this gave him practice in public speaking, which proved to be valuable later on.

College and Beyond Starting even in sophomore year, he was starting to get recruiting letters from different universities. He went to several different universities for visits, and by his senior year, the number of different universities offering scholarships was stacking up. When it boiled down to it, it was between Florida and Alabama. At the last second, he chose Florida. In 2007, he was the first sophomore in NCAA history to win the Heisman Trophy. He was drafted in the first round of the NFL draft by the Denver Broncos.
