FP7 Concertation Meeting ICT for Transport Brussels 4 – 5 April 2011 Paolo Paganelli Insiel FP7 Call 4, CSA Logistics for LIFE

Suggestions for concertation Logistics for LIFE Level 3 Roadmapping Level 2 Assessment Level1 Strategy Framework Best Practices RoadmapShowcase “What should be done to improve efficiency and sustainability?” “What has been done, what impact has been produced?” “What solutions and technologies should be looked for / promoted?”

Expectations from other projects Logistic for LIFE Technology Sustainability dimensions: Environmental (CO2, energy) Economic (revenues, costs) Social (safety, security, growth) Policy objectives (Transport White Paper,..) Indicators and benchmarks Sustainability dimensions: Environmental (CO2, energy) Economic (revenues, costs) Social (safety, security, growth) Policy objectives (Transport White Paper,..) Indicators and benchmarks Ensure proper depth of analysis All levels must be addressed for a solution’s analysis to be meaningful Policy Organization Process Relevant ICT components Relevant ICT standards / approaches Relevant ICT components Relevant ICT standards / approaches Organization achieves impact on these strategic targets…... by applying these changes on its processes and functions..... based on implementation of these technologies and standards. Help us build and populate the Framework!

Ideas for FP8 Logistics for LIFE Transparency of environmental performances external, as a means of communication to customers and other stakeholders, internal, as a means of benchmarking and process improvement. seen as an enabler of: new “green” logistics services, offering certified and measurable environment- friendly transport options to customers, continuous improvement of operations based on environmental parameters measurements, leading to cost savings as well as meeting certification objectives, green supply chain co-design.  Key requirement at this level: availability of common approaches and standards for environmental performances assessment. ICT key enablers for environment-friendly logistics: Intelligent Cargo, Cooperative Systems, Combination of the two?
