Tutors General – for students who want to brush up on or get support for general English skills (Tutors hold BA + TEFL) Elite - for students who need high-level, more intense tutoring in specific subject areas. Tutees already hold university or advanced degrees and need the tutoring for advanced degree programs or for professional purposes (Tutors are drawn from Instructors) Skill Intensive Workshops - A group of 2 to 5 students can request a workshop focused on a particular English skill (such as speaking, listening, reading, writing, or grammar). Teacher Training The University of Arizona's Center for English as a Second Language's (CESL) is proud to offer the Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL/TESOL) Certificate Program. This program helps prepare those who wish to teach English as well as a selection of professional development classes for experienced teachers of English. Courses can be taken face to face (on campus or overseas) or online. 16

Research at CESL There are numerous research opportunities for graduate students, UA faculty, and scholars to conduct research for CESL. Topics of interest to CESL: ESL student proficiency achievement and assessment University student retention and success after IEP studies Curriculum articulation Learner autonomy Content area teaching and ESP developments 17

Graduate Research for credit at CESL Qualified graduate students selected to conduct research for CESL will receive graduate credit for research experience, mentoring, potential publication opportunities, and an opportunity to work closely with leaders in the field of ESL teaching and leadership. 45 hours of work must be done for each credit earned. Dates typically align with UA term dates. Students should check with their advisors about the applicability of their credits. 18
