Presentation transcript:

An Act to amend the law of England and Wales as to the liability of persons as occupiers of premises for injury suffered by persons other than their visitors; and to amend the Unfair Contract Terms Act 1977, as it applies to England and Wales, in relation to persons obtaining access to premises for recreational or educational purposes.

This means that if you are held responsible for a property or a piece of land that you are then liable if any persons were to injure themselves on your land or property This is even the case if you are not the owner. This law can be passed over to anyone in care of the land or property at that moment in time. I.E. The salon manager

To protect yourself from this law you must make sure that anything that could cause harm to persons in the property has been minimalized or there are relevant warnings when the property is unattended. E.g. If someone was to visit the salon there should be warning signs on chemical cupboards, or wet floor signs if area is wet.

Can you name the following signs and where they would go in the salon?

First Aid – located on first aid box or on wall near Hazardous substances – Found on Chemical bottles Highly flammable- Found on chemical substances Wet floor sign – Placed on floors PPE Signs – Found on Chemical cupboards Trailing cables- Located on walls
