Health care issues in the Ashby Woulds Area Action 1 Why cannot patients register with a Leicestershire GP in many parts of the Ashby Woulds Parish apart from Norris Hill and if this situation can be remedied. Action 1 Outcome NHS Leicestershire County and Rutland is currently working with practices in North West Leicestershire to ascertain and confirm practice boundaries and identify areas of little provision. NHS Leicestershire County and Rutland will be working with practice to ensure areas of no provision are covered. Patients should be able to register with the following practices in the Ashby Woulds area: Dr Shepherd and Dr Davies. Action 2 What is the situation in regards to the security of their services if they are registered with a Derbyshire GP? Action 2 Outcome NHS Leicestershire County and Rutland counts the numbers of patients registered with Derbyshire practice and includes this data in planning and modelling of services. NHS Leicestershire County and Rutland are working closely with our colleagues in NHS Derbyshire County to review services.

Health care issues in the Ashby Woulds Area Action 3 What Leicestershire services are available to patients if they are registered with a Derbyshire GP, e.g. maternity and health visiting? Action 3 Outcome Patients will be able to access the same services such as maternity, health visiting and district nursing. Through the patient choice initiative patients should be able to access services through their GP in either Leicestershire or Derbyshire. Action 4 What financial arrangements are made by NHS Leicestershire County and Rutland to give the full range of services available to those people who have to register in Derbyshire, to the same standard that the rest of the population of Leicestershire have access to? Action 4 Outcome Patients do not have to register with a Derbyshire GP. If they live in Leicestershire they have the choice of registering with a Leicestershire GP.

Health care issues in the Ashby Woulds Area Action 5 What effective arrangements for community transport through liaison by NHS Leicestershire County and Rutland and community transport provide can be made for older, disabled and frail people in the area to access GP surgeries and pharmacies, as the current situation is unacceptable. Action 5 Outcome NHS Leicestershire County and Rutland does not currently commission any services with community transport providers. MRC Community Action provides services for frail older people who have difficulty using public services. Action 6 What provision is made to access to NHS dentists? Action 6 Outcome NHS Leicestershire County and Rutland currently have 4 NHS dentists in Ashby de la Zouch.

Health care issues in the Ashby Woulds Area Action 7 What public transport is/ can be provided to out of hours services from the Ashby Woulds are? Action 7 Outcome NHS Leicestershire County and Rutland is aware of the number 9/ 9a Bus Service provided by East Midlands Arriva. Patients can request home visits from the Out of Hours service if they are unable to access transport and have a clinical need. Also Dial a Ride confirm that they do cover the Ashby Woulds area with the car scheme which will take people to hospital/ health centre appointments and also that their community bus passes through Moira twice a week. The service is manned by volunteer drivers and there is a charge to cover fuel costs. I will send copies of their leaflets about their service, but it’s unlikely that these will arrive before Tuesday s forum.
