The givens and what is the standard for this teacher?  What are your obligations as the principal: What support have you provided, what input have you given, have you established goals for performance?, Have you used data to guide your discussions? Have you provided professional development?  What challenges are you facing?.  What’s the political landscape?  What’s the decision you need to make?  How will you know you did the right thing?
