MANGANESE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! BY SULTANA SHAHEEN HOLCOMB

Mn Manganese No wonder it’s called MANganese, it’s strong, there’s plenty of it, and good for the body when taken in moderation !!!! $1.70/100g

YUMMY & JUICY & SWEET ! Most fruits contain manganese, but the following fruits have a significant amount: -black berries -strawberries -pineapple

WOW STUFF! Manganese is part of the iron group of elements which are thought to be synthesized in large stars shortly before supernova explosion.

Hope for damsels in distress Besides chocolate and cigarettes, an intake of manganese may alleviate PMS symptoms! MSNBC: “ A handful of studies have suggested that manganese, in combination with calcium, may reduce the irritability, depression and tension associated with PMS.”

Keeps you healthy! Manganese is mostly in bones, liver, kidney, and pancreas. It aids in the formation of connective tissue, bones, blood-clotting factors, and sex hormones and plays a role in fat and carbohydrate metabolism, calcium absorption, and blood sugar regulation. Manganese is also necessary for normal brain and nerve function.

Even though deficiencies are rare ya oughta know…. Low levels of manganese in the body can cause infertility, bone malformation, weakness, and seizures.

AND…… In 1837, British academic James Couper found an association between heavy exposure to manganese in mines with a form of Parkinson’s Disease.

It’s shiny and useful in industrial stuff! It is found as the free element in nature (often in combination with iron), and in many minerals. The free element is a metal with important industrial metal alloy uses. Manganese ions are variously colored, and are used industrially as pigments and as oxidation chemicals.

Discovered in Greece ! Two black minerals from Magesia (now modern Greece) were both called magnes, but thought to have different genders. The male magnes attracted iron (was the iron ore)The female magnes ore did not attract iron, and it was used to decolorize glass. The feminine magnes was later called magnesia, known as manganese dioxide.

Ooooh it’s paramagnetic Manganese metal and its common ions are paramagnetic. This means that, while manganese metal does not form a permanent magnet, it does exhibit strong magnetic properties in the presence of an external magnetic field.
