Presentation transcript:

1) Did the teacher manage the situation well? 2) What were some things that you noticed? 3) Is there anything that was not handled correctly? 4) How would you handle a situation like this in your classroom?

Bullying, Harassment, or Abuse Drug & Alcohol Use Eating Disorders Gang Activity Sexual Activity and/or Pregnancy Suicide Attempts Medical Emergencies Weather Emergencies Shooting or Bomb Threats

Become familiar with your school’s emergency management plans Prepare students in what to do regarding emergencies or uncontrollable situations Allow students to ask questions in order to build trust during unexpected situations Explain what situations could arise, it may help them later. Stay calm and positive no matter what!

The students’ well-being is your top priority As a teacher you need to follow protocol for every situation Field trips & permission slips Not following protocol can cause legal ramifications Don’t be afraid to seek help from others, such as counselors, administration, colleagues, etc.

Your turn! How would you deal with situations like these?
