Activity – What are the constituents of a lesson? 1. Work with the person/people beside you to fill in the small sticky labels with all the parts of a lesson. 2. Try moving them around on the backing sheet into different arrangements e.g. chronological, can be beneficial as a memory prompt.

Activity – What are the constituents of a lesson? 3. Now stick the constituents onto the lesson planning form. 4. Did you miss anything? What did you have that isn’t in this lesson plan? 5. Please star or highlight those aspects you think are missing and stick them to the bottom of side 2 of the planning form, as the information will be very useful for us

How much should they be teaching? Page 6 of the Mentors’ Handbook The main aim of the Practical Teaching 1 module is to provide a wide experience of working with pupils and a greater familiarity with the day-to-day work of the class teacher. It will enable them to come to terms with teaching situations, to gain confidence in their abilities as a teacher and ensure that they are making reasonable progress towards meeting the Teachers’ Standards. Trainees will be expected to build their teaching to approx. 30% of the week (7 or 8 lessons in a 25 period week) by the end of PT1.

PDP Weekly Mentor Session Record PDP will need to be submitted electronically. Easier if it is kept electronically, but can be printed and scanned at the end. They do not submit lesson plans and observation forms but they need to keep a teaching file (electronic or hard copy) with them in.

Each week of Thurs/Fri
