Chapter 5 – Energy Resources Independent Project

Solve the Energy Problem! What will be the energy resource of the future?

Your final product will be one of the following:  Essay  PowerPoint  Cartoon or Illustrated Book

Your final product will have 5 parts 1. Introduction 2. Fossil Fuels (overview) 3. Alternative Fuels (overview) 4. Energy Solution 5. Conclusion

 One paragraph to introduce your project.  Last sentence of paragraph is your thesis sentence. (State your choice for the best energy resource for the future.)

 Use your textbook pages  For each of the 3 types of fossil fuels, explain: 1. Type 2. Formation 3. Advantages 4. Disadvantages  Guideline: 1 paragraph for each type of fossil fuel

 Use your textbook pages  For at least 5 of the sources explained in the text, explain: 1. Source 2. Basics of how it works 3. Advantages 4. Disadvantages  Guideline: 1 paragraph for each type of alternative source.

 You research and decide what you think will be the successful Energy Resource for the future.  You can choose one source or a combination of sources (no more than 2)  For your solution, explain: 1. How it will be used (For what? Electricity? Car fuel?) 2. Why it is the most successful resource 3. How disadvantages will be overcome  Guideline: 1 paragraph for each explanation (1-3)

 Summarize key points  “So what?” Finish with what you want your audience to remember.

 Of course you will use your own words.  When doing research, write down the reference information (title, author, date published and publisher, website url, etc.)
