Summary In 1587 a group of people went from Plymouth, England to Roanoke Island, NC. They relied on supplies from England. So when some men including the leader, John White, went back to England & then came back the Colony of Roanoke was gone without a trace. What is the cause or theory of this enigma? Some historians believe the 1587 Roanoke colony lies underwater & its victims to centuries of erosion. Others say they made a new tribe with the Native Americans. No one knows. That’s why its an enigma.
