Internet Safety for 1 st Grade

What is a community? These are the places where we get to know real people.

How do we get from place to place in our community?

What is Cyberspace? It is a community just like the one we live in. We call it the Cyber community.

You can visit places in the cyber community, just like you can visit them in the community or neighborhood where you live.

Places in the cyber community have special names. Do you know what they are called? Websites

How do we get to Cyberspace? Are there roads to it? The road to the Cyber community is called the Internet. Sometimes it’s called a Superhighway, and just like when an adult drives you around on a real highway, kids need and adult to help them get around on the Internet highway.

How many of you have been on the Internet or to websites with your parents, older brothers or sisters or with a teacher here at school?

Places in Cyberspace -- Entertainment goryId= – Shopping goryId= Police Restaurants

There are so many websites on the Internet that sometimes it is easy to get lost.

What’s a good rule to follow if you get lost in your neighborhood community? Find a trusted adult – someone who works in a store, a policeman, a mother with children – and tell them you are lost.

What should you do if you get lost in cyberspace? Stop and find a grown-up to help.

Does anyone know what a citizen is? A citizen is someone who is part of a community.

Can you think of a good name for a citizen in the cyber community? Cyber citizen is a good name. When you are in cyberspace, you are a cyber citizen.
