Current Events of the Iraq War A Documentary of The Iraq War By Jake Guglielmino

Deaths in Iraq Throughout the war in Iraq, Iraqi deaths have been significantly higher than U.S. military deaths, but the U.S. has suffered many injured soldiers during the 10 year war( the longest war in our history).

End of the Insurgency The Iraqi Insurgency ended in around Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, the leader of the Insurgency was killed by a U.S airstrike in June of Some believe the U.S. bought the insurgents out to end the conflict. This is most important event in the war since the end of combat operations in 2003

Reasons for Remaining in Iraq Many believe that we only entered Iraq for its oil, this would explain why U.S. troops only protected oil refineries in Iraq. However, there are reasons because of the instability of the Near East. Much of this speculation revolves around Iran. President Obama plans to remove troops from Iraq, but wants to leave a few hundred to a thousand in the country. (Its stated to protect the U.S embassy but troops will be dispersed making Iraq the largest embassy in the world. The strategy here is to be ready for any Iranian intervention in the region or intervention from their Syrian allies against U.S. allies such as Israel of India. Also with the death of Osama bin- Laden, found in supposed U.S. ally Pakistan, its believed Pakistan may be working against the U.S
