29 September 2010 Draft 2011 Investor CDP Consultation Introduction to the consultation process Purpose of the draft is to stimulate discussion CDP Mission “to accelerate solutions to climate change by putting relevant information at the heart of business, policy and investment decisions” Feedback from 2010 (ORS, CDP, Companies, investors) Review developments in carbon accounting Prepare draft

29 September 2010 Draft 2011 Investor CDP Consultation Strategic principles for 2011 For cross comparison & decision making To support investors & companies To reduce reporting burden To facilitate analysis StructureSimplicity QualityRelevance

29 September 2010 Draft 2011 Investor CDP Consultation Targets: Key issues Cross comparison between responses is almost impossible Primarily due to wide variation in units Difficult to undertake performance analysis Difficult to understand the relative ambition of the targets

29 September 2010 Draft 2011 Investor CDP Consultation Targets: Proposed questions Q2.5 Do you have an emissions reduction target active within your reporting year? If yes, Q2.5a Please complete the table [Scope; % of total emissions of scope; % reduction from base year; base year; base year emissions; target year; comment] and, Q2.5b Please provide details on your progress against this target [% complete (time); % complete (emissions); comment] If no, Q2.5c Please explain why not and forecast how your emissions will change over the next five years

22 September 2010 Draft 2011 Investor CDP Consultation Targets: Key amendments Question applies to targets ‘active’ with the reporting year Includes ongoing targets and those completed within the reporting year Specify percentage of total scope emissions to which target applies Gives an understanding of the relevance of the target to the total gross emissions Indicates ambition All targets to be converted into % reduction from base year: Allows cross comparability Acknowledged that for some intensity targets this could be an increase Details requested on percentage complete in time and emissions reductions Gives an understanding of the trajectory of performance against the target
