The Plan Incorporate environmental considerations into our daily activities and services. Develop initiatives that provide a solid foundation for meetings and events to mitigate their negative impacts on the environment. Work with internal and external participants to enhance their current environmental strategies.

A Comprehensive Program Site Water Efficiency Energy & Atmosphere Materials & Resources Indoor Environment Quality

Building Energy and Air Quality Initiatives Reduce light levels in exhibit halls and public areas – Very low levels (10%) when unoccupied (overnight). – Work light (50%) during move-in and move-out. – Full light (100%) only when event is in full progress. Encourage specific travel routes to reduce operating elevator and escalators during move-in and move-out. Use ventilation rather than heating or air conditioning during move-in and move-out. Use carbon dioxide sensors in HVAC systems to ensure appropriate levels of fresh air. Use occupancy motion sensor systems to manage lighting in restrooms, service corridors, and loading areas.

Consumable Products Initiatives Use 100% “SCA” post consumer paper disposables and “Green Seal” certified foam hand soap in all restrooms. Use SFI, FSC, and acid-free, 30% post consumer paper for all copies and printed collateral Use low-to-no volatile organic compound inks and paints for all signs and wall surfaces Use organic and locally grown food whenever possible for catering and concessions food service Donate leftover food to local food banks Recycle cardboard, mixed paper, bottles and cans, glass, aluminum, plastic, fluorescent bulbs, toner cartridges and batteries Don’t just toss trash in the nearest receptacle; separate at the source whenever possible

KNOW THE CODE A WCSA recycle compliance program that uses color- coded receptacles to: - Capture recyclable material. - Maximize separation at the source. - Reduce trash hauls and their associated costs. - Divert as recyclable material from the landfill.
