Industrial Engineering By Eric L., Enrique S., Tim O’ C.

What is Industrial Engineering? Industrial Engineering is the design, improvement and installation of integrated systems of people, materials, information, equipment and energy. It is, in the large sense, the combination of obvious engineering knowledge of math, analysis, physical and social science to improve systems at the workplace.

Sub-Disciplines The sub-disciplines of industrial engineering are: 1.Ergonomics 2.Quality Control 3.Worker Productivity

Ergonomics

Ergonomics Ergonomics is the applied science concerned with the designing and arranging things people mostly use in order to create the most efficient and safe work place. Some examples are shaping peoples office chairs, body postures all day, accessibility to machinery/appliances Out look in growth in ergonomics has been shifted from minimizing pain to maximizing pleasure of humans in the workplace. Growth in this field of study is growing to the increase in new technologies in the workplace being implemented to improve work efficiency. By making the worker feel more comfortable, the output will improve the efficiency and create revenue towards the business.

Quality Control

Quality control is the analytical method of observing and citing statistics to label product or service quality, provided by the business (system of operation). Basically, quality control examines products, and reports any need in improvement or need to lessen quality following budgeting and capabilities of the company. The out look in this field is increasing due to the fact the finished product is being scrutinized by public and specialists more often due to emergence of social online media and the need to cut costs accordingly due to economic down turns.

Worker Productivity

Worker productivity is the process of analysis of worker performance and proposition of new methods on the intent of creating a stronger output in getting necessary tasks completed. Some of the tasks include being able to develop systems that measure worker performance and applying necessary standards to improve the output towards a more efficient outcome. Future projections predict a sluggish necessity of engineers in this disciplinary. Contributing factors could be the cheaper route of training people themselves in the company to do this line of work at a cheaper cost than higher an industrial engineer.

Young Perspectives in area of Industrial Engineering

New graduates and small experienced young people in industrial engineering are needed for developing new ways to increase production and efficiency with low-cost to budgeting. According to job descriptions across company work ads, it seems with that companies want new minds to develop new methods that can innovate the matter in which money is saved.

Young Perspectives in area of Industrial Engineering Job requirements are surprisingly lenient for industrial engineer opening. Companies require at least, a bachelors degree in Industrial Engineering and Small amount of direct experience in the depicted disciplinary. However, although the job requirements are not as demanding, the job openings are not common. It seems that once the job is taken, another one is not likely to open up.

Senior Engineering Opportunities Industrial Engineers career develops many opportunities arise: Project Manager- leads and has overall responsibility of the planning an execution of a project. Director of Operations-Oversees the day to day operation of a department or company Chief/ Head Engineer- develops, plans and oversees projects for all engineers in company/organization. Makes sure all projects are submit on time.

Wayne State Trainings

Wayne States Program Professional Objective “identify opportunities and formulate solutions which integrate technological and human systems to create value Apply the tools and techniques of industrial engineering to make value-based decisions. Provide leadership as a member of high performance teams in a diverse global business environment.”

Wayne State Trainings In the field of Industrial engineering you should be prepared to work in a group environment, and be able to work on creating and improving solutions. One must be able to apply knowledge in the mathematics, physics and social science fields in order to make steps towards completing the project. An IE must be prepared to lead a group, along as work with the group to improve, design and create to finish the project at the designated time. The industrial engineer must allow be prepared to learn further once in the field. IE is not a field where you learn everything in school, there is a lot of different fields, therefore, a lot of material to learn when starting in a new field in IE.

Tech. Breakthroughs Software Computer Aided Desgin (CAD)-use of computer systems to assist in the creation, modification, analysis, or optimization of a design Computer Aided Manufacturing (CAM)-use of computer software to control machine tools and related machinery in the manufacturing of work pieces. Computer Numerical Control (CNC)-machine tool which is operated under automatic control Programmable Logic Control (PLC)-s a digital computer used for automation of electromechanical processes (Controls machinery on factory line or amusement parks) Syteline- SyteLine gives you the visibility and transparency of data needed to address your key obstacles. From repetitive to engineer-to- order processes, a SyteLine ERP solution will accelerate production so you can meet customer demands

Tech. Breakthroughs Material Removal – Turning, milling, drilling, grinding, tapping, electrical discharge machines (EDM), broaching, sawing, water jet cutting equipment, and laser process equipment. Material Forming – Stamping, bending, joining, hydro-forming, presses, shearing, cold and hot forming equipment. Additive Processes – 3D printing, laser sintering, and rapid prototyping equipment. Tooling – Drills, taps, reamers, boring bars, dies, punches, and grinding wheels. Material Handling – Conveyors, automated wire guided vehicles, die handling equipment, robots, pallet changers, and bar feed equipment. Automated Systems – Transfer machines, assembly systems, automated systems and cells, and Flexible Manufacturing Systems (FMS).

Breakthrough Affects Industrial and Manufacturing Software allows engineers to design, share and create the product all from a computer. Also allows the engineers to organize data and track product movement, product development, and employee efficiency. Knowledge and training on how to use these software's can give upper edge to Engineers trying to gain a Senior level position or entry level engineers a better chance at getting hired. Advances in machinery for handling, removing and forming material make it possible to create, and rework different products.
