Xeriscaping in Your Community Introduction  Have you ever heard of the phrase “Think Green”? We are using up more resources than we should. We need to learn how to live in a way that protects the environment. One way to do this is by xeriscaping. Did you know that xeriscaping is landscaping that requires little or no water for maintenance? It utilizes native species in order to withstand conditions in a particular area. A sustainable environment replenishes naturally and thrives, providing clean air, water and land for the consumption and shelter of all living organisms in the community. You are going to become an expert Xeriscaper. Your task is to plan a garden landscape that includes a combination of grasses, trees, shrubs, and perennials that are native to Utah. You will design the layout similar to the one pictured here. You will need to make note of the watering conditions, soil condition, sunlight preferences and plant growth sizes in your design You will present your gardens to your families during SEP conferences using a power point, showing the process of your plan.
