1 Mysterious Butterflies Author: Terry L Brown-Austin

Butterflies are amazing creatures. There are over twenty thousand different kinds of butterflies in the world.

Most butterflies are found in tropical environments. They are important in helping to balance the world.

Butterflies are also part of the circle of life. Some animals such as birds, spiders, and other insects eat butterflies to live.

Because of their sensitive wings, butterflies can help warn us about unhealthy changes in our environments.

Butterflies are very good fliers. They have four wings. One pair of their wings are larger than the other wings.

They can fly about thirty miles per hour. That is faster than the fastest runner in your school!

Butterflies are not only fast flies but they use the color of their wings for several different things…

For instance, butterflies camouflage themselves from their enemies by blending in with all the beautiful flowers.

They also use the colors on their wings to absorb heat to protect them from the sum.

Another interesting fact about butterflies is that they use the color of their wings to find other butterflies friends to play and have fun.
