 50 things you love: a brainstorming activity.  Where do we go from here? The final project…  Time to begin writing…?

On a blank sheet of paper, you are to take 10 minutes and write out the things that you love. The goal is to create a list of things - aim for 50 - that make you genuinely happy.

 Hitting a snare drum with a perfect snap.  Watching my son Max run.  Calvin and Hobbes.  Laughing at my wife’s work stories when she doesn’t intend to be funny, but is.  Making a perfect cup of coffee or a really nice cup of tea.  Ordering the exact right thing from a menu at a restaurant I’ve never been at before.  The smell of a leather football.  German chocolate cake.  Losing to my son Sam at board games when we’re playing for keeps.

You will create/provide the following: -A poem -A vignette -An image

These three things should connect to capture something about you. Because you’re at a point of transition, you may wish to think about your “home” as a way to approach this assignment.

 Brainstorm the topic and approach for your poem.  Keep in mind that you can write on one thing and yet mean so much more.
