10 Foundry Air Issues IDEM is pursuing rulemaking to accept acid scrubbers as presumptive VOC BACT for core making amines. CO issue—each facility is required to fully disclose its actual and potential emissions during the permitting process. One company has told us that they are a major source of CO based upon emissions from sea coal used in their sand.

11 Foundry Air Issues Criteria pollutants are: Particulates (PM2.5) Sulfur Dioxide (SO2) Nitrogen Oxides (NOx) Carbon Monoxide (CO) Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC) EPA’s National Air Toxics Assessment has many Indiana Counties that include Foundries with elevated risks from hexavalent chromium
