History Where were you on 9/11/01?

Intended Purpose  In direct response to 9/11, Customs & Border Protection (CBP) partnered with the trade community to create a program to protect the U.S. against acts of terrorism.  In November 2001, Customs-Trade Partnership Against Terrorism (C-TPAT) was launched with seven companies enrolled.

Who Can Be C-TPAT Certified  U.S. Importers of Record  U.S./Canada Highway Carriers  U.S./Mexico Highway Carriers  Rail Carriers  Sea Carriers  Air Carriers  U.S. Marine Port Authority/Terminal Operators  U.S. Air Freight Consolidators, Ocean TPT Intermediaries & NVOCCs  Mexican Manufacturers  Licensed U.S. Customs Brokers  Certain Invited Foreign Manufacturers

The Future  In the future, look for C-TPAT to grow and incorporate all types of safety, including Partners in Protection (PIP), product safety, food safety, etc.
