POSTGRADUATE PROGRAM DEPARTEMENT OF BIOLOGY FACULTY OF MATHEMATICS AND NATURAL SCIENCES BOGOR AGRICULTURAL UNIVERSITY The Department of Biology is one of the largest science departments in the University, offering Microbiology courses for master and doctoral degrees. Microbiology study program is supported by 11 permanent academic staffs and 20 administrative and technical staffs with about 30 postgraduate students including those from outside Indonesia. The department is well equipped for teaching and research. Courses in microbiology are designed to fulfill the requirement of expertise in biodiversity, environmental, bio-prospecting of tropical microbiology within the frame of developing microbiology as science and technology for the basis of agricultural, environmental, industrial biotechnology and health. These courses are supported by laboratory practice allowing the students to gain a variety of research skills. The department staff carry out recognised research accross a spectrum of topics, some in collaboration with universities in UK and Japan. Foreign students taking an international program are not required to master in Bahasa Indonesia. Foreign students can be accepted as research students for the period of one year. The study period of a research student can be extended according to the valid regulations. Rules on the status of research students are stated in an academic regulation.
