“TOLERANCE IN THE MULTICULTURAL LIFE OF 21ST CENTURY EUROPE” COMENIUS INTERNATIONAL MEETING Tychy, Poland 1 st -5 th October 2012 “ONISIFOR GHIBU” HIGH SCHOOL, SIBIU, ROMANIA

Tolerance in Mass Media means to accept every gender of person. It is the appreciation of diversity and the ability to live & let others live. It means showing respect for the race, religion, age, gender and opinions of other people or groups.

Roma population have their own TV channel ! This is tolerance! Last year, Roma population got the permission to have a TV channel called “Bah TV”. The name comes from the word “bahtalo” which means “luck”. Bah TV includes shows which educate Roma population communities, music and discussions about racism. This is a rare case of accepting Roma education in Mass Media society.

This is an ordinary show for Bah TV. This kind of music is the best for Roma population. It represents their personality. They have shows about cooking, about problems from our country and problems of their communities.

What is intolerance ? Intolerance in Mass Media means not to accept ordinary people. It could be racial groups, religious beliefs or just the behavior of your neighbor. Intolerance is not being able to tolerate something or someone else.

Intolerance for Christianity! People in front of the TV should know about the Christian celebration. In the video the holiday is “the Baptism”. The Baptism is a Christian tradition celebrating the day Jesus Christ was baptized. Today the rating is more important than religion.

The news reporter talks too much about the people who are yelling at each other. They should record inside of the church not in front of it. Mass Media shouldn`t let us know those bad things which Christians do. This is just one of many examples of bad tolerance.

I can tolerate anything- except intolerance!
