When students came in to research, we noticed the following habits: 1) The students used databases instead of Google the majority of the time. 2) The students could easily complete searches on the library catalog and find the books they needed on the shelves. 3) We knew most of the students’ names or at least recognized them. 4) The students would approach us with questions about anything, library related or not.
We forged a strong bond with the business tech teachers. One of the business tech teachers nominated us for Teacher of the Quarter We would get to watch the 9 th graders’ information literacy skills progress for the next four years. Because we knew each 9 th grader had received the same “training,” we had a better feel for how to guide them in the years to come.
