Gluteus Maximus (Moore 551) PA: Ilium posterior to posterior gluteal line, dorsal surface of sacrum and coccyx, and sacrotuberous ligament. DA: ITB and gluteal tuberosity of femur. N: Inferior gluteal n. (S1, S2). A: Extends and externally rotates hip.

GLUTEUS MEDIUS

Gluteus Medius (Moore 551 / Kendall 221) PA: External surface of ilium between anterior and posterior gluteal lines. DA: Greater trochanter of femur. N: Superior gluteal n. (L5). A: Anterior fibers: abduct, flex, and internally rotate the hip. Posterior fibers: abduct, extend, and externally rotate the hip.

Gluteus Minimus (Moore 551) PA: External surface of ilium between anterior and inferior gluteal lines. DA: Greater trochanter of femur. N: Superior gluteal n. (L5). A: Abducts and internally rotates hip.

PIRIFORMIS

Piriformis (Moore 551) PA: Anterior surface of sacrum and sacrotuberous ligament. DA: Greater trochanter of femur. N: Nerve to Piriformis (S1). A: Externally rotates hip; stabilizes femoral head in acetabulum.

QUADRATUS FEMORIS

Quadratus Femoris (Moore 551) PA: Ischial tuberosity. DA: Quadrate tubercle. N: Nerve of quadratus femoris and inferior gemellus (L5, S1). A: Externally rotates hip; stabilizes femoral head in acetabulum.
