LEAP Intro/Overall LEAP Rating  View Video… Chapter 1: Introduction to LEAP/ Calculating an Overall LEAP Rating

Component Weights

LEAP Intro/Overall LEAP Rating * Note: Since student outcomes data will not be available until the fall, overall teacher LEAP ratings will not be finalized until the fall of We are working with CDE to determine how this can be improved in the future.

LEAP Intro/Overall LEAP Rating Questions?

Observations  View Video… Chapter 2: Classroom Observations

Framework for Effective Teaching  Slight changes to bulleted language in Evidence Guide  Addition of CCSS shifts icon  Majority of edits in:  LE.1 to highlight observable behaviors  I.2 to better infuse CCSS  New/more Appendices at leap.dspk12.org  Not separate Frameworks – assist observers in understanding effective practices in particular contexts, unique instructional content areas or grade levels  Observers use both the Framework and applicable Appendix

Observation Certification  All school leaders and peer observers are required to be certified:  Complete 4-hour pre-certification training  Pass certification assessment  If observers do not meet the certification standard:  Will be able to access supports  Can attempt the certification assessment again

Observations Questions?

Professionalism  View Video… Chapter 3: Professionalism

 To improve fair and consistent scoring across the district, only teachers in formal teacher leadership roles should be scored on P.7 this year  Teacher Leadership Academy and Differentiated Roles Pilot  The indicator was revised to reflect teacher leader roles and responsibilities, and may not capture the other types of leadership work that teachers do in their building Scoring P.7

Professionalism Questions?

Student Perceptions  View Video… Chapter 4: Student Perceptions

Student Perceptions  Analyzing data from a pilot where teachers chose an additional class to administer SPS to see if there were statistically significant differences in overall scores  A teacher must have at least 5 students take SPS for data to be included in the report

Student Perceptions Questions?

Student Outcomes  View Video… Chapter 5: Student Outcomes

 The Student Outcomes measures for will include:  Growth portions from the School Performance Framework (for all teachers).  The last three years of TCAP data (as available), in the following grades/content areas: 4 th – 10 th grade reading, writing, and math 10 th grade ACT  Student Growth Objectives (SGOs), while not part of LEAP, will continue to be used as part of teacher End- of-Year Conversations. Student Outcomes * Note: Since student outcomes data will not be available until the fall, overall teacher LEAP ratings will not be finalized until the fall of We are working with CDE to determine how this can be improved in the future.

 Student Learning Objectives (SLOs) will be used as part of the new Standards rollout.  SLOs will not be included in Student Outcomes ratings but will be included beginning in  For this year: Informational training for all schools Up to 20 schools opt in to pilot SLOs 3 schools in an intensive pilot (working with the CU Boulder and the Center for Assessment) Student Outcomes

 Student Learning Objectives (SLOs) will be different from SGOs in the following ways:  SLOs must be aligned with new curriculum standards.  SLOs will be based on common district assessments, where available, and teacher- and team-created assessments.  SLOs change the degree of difficulty and increase rigor for students. They also provide a broader scale for accomplishment (not just “met” or “not met”).  SLOs will be used with all grades and content areas. SLOs vs. SGOs
