Hot Spots: Locations Visited Ozland Art Gallery Event –DETAILS –Coordinates: 194, 250, 500 Art Opening for Alba Rossini - Tarot Card Paintings Crossworlds Gallery –DETAILS: –Coordinates: 48, 143, story Art Gallery Structure 2D, 3D, and Interactive Art

Trying to Find My Place in 2 nd Life - I went to several sites in 2 nd Life. - Problems encountered: 1) Art did not fit my aesthetic values or taste. 2) Difficult to navigate. 3) Scary/Inappropriate imagery, objects, and art. 4) Completely empty with nothing and no one around. 5) Boring, uninteresting or not thought provoking.

Recommendations - 14 Floors of Exceptional SL Art - Wide variety of Art and Art Styles - 2D Art well produced, aesthetically pleasing. - Interactive and 3D Art made it interesting. - Usable in an Art Classroom for observation and critiques of multifaceted art pieces. Crossworlds Gallery:

Virtual Art Gallery Features: Crossworlds Gallery Art Examples Most of my favorite art at the Crossworlds Gallery was Surrealist in nature with a Pop Culture twist, uniquely commenting on social issues within our contemporary Society!!

Virtual Art Gallery Features: Crossworlds Gallery Art Examples The Crossworlds Gallery also had amazing 3D & Interactive Art as well, making it an exciting and thought provoking art experience for everyone involved.

Recommendations - Interesting 2D art pieces by Alba Rossini based on Tarot Cards. - Several other galleries, stores, homes, areas on site to visit. - A rainbow & a beautiful yellow brick road to leading all the way. Strange weird things to see & experience, including ballroom dancing, graveyards, extravagant homes, & much more. Ozland Art Gallery Event:

Virtual Art Gallery Features of Ozland Art Event - The art by Alba Rossini was interesting. - I liked the narratives created in each art piece. - Told ideas behind each tarot card in a Contemporary way. - Easy to identify the symbols within and connect them to personal experiences.

Virtual Art Gallery Features - No One showed up to Art Event. - I investigated large area to find people from event. - The only 'life forms' I found were: - A Grim Reaper who wanted to cut my head off. - A viscous dog at a police station (along with the guns). - some gross mice in a basement. - animatronic dancers that did not talk but forced me to dance.

Reflection Reflection on Virtual Field Trip Experiences: - Difficult to find an appropriate event & world to attend within parameters of lesson. -Strange atmosphere wherever I went, (see gravesite to the right in Ozland?!). - Rarely saw other avatars. - Avatars encountered were silent, otherwise engaged, or grossly inappropriate. - Not able to talk to anyone because of above.

Description: Places of Interest 1) Risk City – (117/99/30) Strange Land Alice and Wonderland Kind of World, yet creepy too! 2) Blackwater Sculpture Gallery – (102, 110, 94) 3D & Interactive Sculptures Based on Fairytales & Mythology. 3) Star Dance Club – Got out of there quick when someone came up to me & said something extremely inappropriate. Virtual Field Trip took me to a variety of places, including:

Second Life Visual Culture + Interesting Art & Imagery + Fun to See Variety of Art In 2nd Life - Abandoned, No 'People' - Loud, Unusual Music Everywhere - Consumerism & Sex Based - Difficult to Interact with Others

Positive/Negative Experiences PositivesNegatives Well Produced ArtNot always good Art Interactivity with ArtDifficult to Navigate Great for CritiquesUnable to Find Cool Events with actual People Good for DiscussionInappropriate behavior by other Avatars Thought ProvokingHighly Sexual Content Interesting New “Life” ExperiencesConsumeristic Filled with Educational ExperiencesOpportunistic

Concerns about Second Life - I think this would be difficult to use in the classroom because it is so sexually and consumer based, focusing on inappropriate material or BUY!BUY!BUY! - I had a difficult time finding appropriate places to visit with good art work. - Definitely would need to have filters on for students to use so they do not run into mature content.
