The Summer Food Service Program for Children 2015 SFSP Updates and Noteworthy Changes Providing Food & Fun So Children Can Have a Fabulous Summer!

Application Due Dates The 2015 On-Line Application will be ready for updates beginning March 3rd! April 10 th – if ordering USDA Foods (commodities) and/or requesting an advance payment May 15 th – if NOT ordering USDA Foods and/or requesting an advance payment SFSP application information and Internet Application manual can be found at:

Meal Service Requirements SFSP Breakfast: Three food components are required for a reimbursable meal: One serving of fruit/vegetable One serving of grain/bread One serving of fluid milk –Four different food items must be offered if the sponsor elects to use OVS. –A child must take three of the four food items and may only decline one food item. –The fourth food item can be a fruit/vegetable, grain/bread, or meat/meat alternate.

Meal Service Requirements Lunch or Supper: Four components required, must be offered through at least five food items: One serving of meat/meat alternate Two different servings of fruit/vegetable One serving of grain/bread One serving of fluid milk A child must take at least three of the four food components, rather than items, to meet OVS requirements.

Meal Service Requirements Snack: Snack requirements remain unchanged. SFSP Snacks must include 2 of the 4 components. *Juice and milk can not be offered as a snack.

Children must eat all components of the meal onsite except: –One fruit, vegetable or grain item. Beginning summer 2015, FNS is extending the option of family style meal service in camps to include closed enrolled sites in the SFSP. Meal Service Requirements
