Simple Probability Pre-Ap Geometry

Probability measures the likelihood that a particular event will occur. The measures are express as a ratio. Simple Probability is the probability of a single event. Probability = Number of Favorable Outcomes Total Number of Possible Outcomes Probability Notation is P ( ) : Probability (an event)

I. Find the Probability of the following events: A) You roll a number cube numbered for 1 to 6. P(1) [What is the probability you will roll a one?] B) A jar contains 11 navy, 16 yellow, and 16 green marbles. A marble is drawn at random. P (navy or green) C) You roll a dice. P (not a 3)

D) A number from 18 to 30 is drawn at random. P(not an even number) E) A number from 15 to 27 is drawn at random. P(a number divisible by 3) F) A jar contains 3 oatmeal, 7 chocolate chip, and 4 peanut butter cookies. A cookie is drawn at random. P(not chocolate chip) * If a probability can be reduce you must reduce your answer. G) A jar contains 5 blue, 7 red, and 10 black ink pens. A pen is drawn at random. P(pink)

II. Find the probability. A letter is chosen at random from the word favorable. A)P (consonant) B) P (the letter a) C) P (the letter c)

III Find the Probability of the following if two dice are rolled, and their sum is recorded. A)P (sum is less than 4) B) P (sum = 7) C) P (sum is greater than 8)
