Name of the Speaker: Dr. Yash Paul Bhatia Designation : MD, Astron Healthcare Topic: Quality and Accreditation of Hospitals and Healthcare Sub Topic: Quality and its aspects, Standards and its Methodologies.

SUMMARY Dr. Bhatia introduced to the topic with Hippocrates Oath. He spoke on Quality standards in Toyota and thus defined quality, medical quality and mentioned that it is measured by structure, process and outcome. Dr. Bhatia briefed about quality aspects, quality continuum and its importance. Dr. Bhatia defined standards as an established norm or requirement and said that focus of standards is on structure and process.

He briefed about methodologies of standards like Licensure, Certification and Accreditation and said that in India, there are no desirable standards but all are mandatory. Dr. Bhatia also briefed about new standards in future specially for hospitals. He concluded by stating that, journey to quality assurance has just begun and knowing is not enough, we must apply it.
