Presentation transcript:

 Most of the Keystone exam consists of multiple choice questions.  When answering these, be sure to: ◦ Read the whole question. ◦ Eliminate answers you know to be wrong ◦ Skip and come back to difficult questions ◦ DON’T LEAVE ANY BLANK ◦ Look for words that you DO know

 Which characteristic is shared by all prokaryotes and eukaryotes? A.Complex organelles B.A nucleus C.DNA D.A flagella Answer: C: All cells have hereditary material in the form of DNA.

 Which characteristic is shared by all prokaryotes and eukaryotes? A.Ability to store hereditary information B.Use of organelles to control cell processes C.Use of cellular respiration for energy release D.Ability to move in response to environmental stimuli. Answer: A: Since all prokaryotes and eukaryotes have DNA, they must be able to use it to store hereditary information.

 There are also a few short answer questions on the test.  When answering these, be sure to: ◦ Read the whole question ◦ What words do you know? (they know you might not know all parts of the question) ◦ Use FULL sentences ◦ Spelling/grammar are not grade, but if they can’t read it, you won’t get credit. ◦ Restate the question ◦ Write about what you DO know. ◦ DON’T leave blank!! FILL THE SPACE.

 Base your answer to the following questions on the diagrams below of two cells, X and Y, and on your knowledge of biology. 1.Select one lettered organelle, and write the letter of that organelle in the space below. Identify the organelle you selected. ______________ _______________________________________________________________(1 pt.) 2.State one function of the organelle you have identified. _____________ _______________________________________________________________(1 pt.) 3.Identify one process that is carried out in Y that is not carried out in X. _______________________________________________________________(1 pt.)
