CLASSICAL RULERS SUMMIT – TOMORROW!

LEADERSHIP SUMMARY - EXAMPLE Napoleon Bonaparte Napoleon Bonaparte rose to power quickly in France even though he was from the island of Corsica and therefore not French. He did so by winning over the military and making bold moves. He brought about the end of the chaos of the French Revolution and ushered in a new war of conquest across Europe which has become known as the Napoleonic Wars. He expanded French territory mainly East into central Europe, but he also even invaded Egypt! The one mistake was when he invaded Russia. This would be his skeleton in his closet as it was very unsuccessful. His military was stuck with no food in the middle of winter and had to slowly return to their western European territory. Many troops died on the journey back. Other than invading Russia, Napoleon was a military genius. He experienced hardship in his youth, being the son of a poor family with several children and being an outcast at his boarding school in France surrounded by aristocratic children. I have so many accomplishments – more than any other person here. I crowned myself emperor of France after it had experienced its terrible revolution. I made my brothers kings of other places. I brought back famous archeological discoveries from Egypt and had historians write about what they saw. You can still see many of them in Paris’ famous museums. I escaped from an island I was banished to and they had to defeat me yet again before I was finally gone! After my departure, European nations held the Congress of Vienna and restored a balance of power in Europe that would last until World War I. People everywhere know my name. I have such a legacy!
