Let us know in writing if the child will be a parent pick up. You pick up at the front door. PM students – dropped off at front at 12:45 and starts at 12:50. They will ride bus home at 3:40. Parent pick up is at the side playground door.

+ Where do I go for pick up? AM Drop off at the side playground door at 8:45 AM Pick up at front at 11:35 PM Drop off at the front door at 12:45 PM Pick up at side playground door at 3:35

+ Bus Safety We ask that parents walk their child to and from the bus door. It is critical for students not to step out until the lights are flashing and stop sign is extended. There may behaviors that are unexpected on the bus. It is beneficial to work together to send the message that we want them to be safe.

+ More Bus Information Please do not board the bus with your child. This includes picture taking. Please say goodbye and take pictures prior to the bus arriving if possible. This actually became law after parents were boarding buses to address someone else’s child. Only adults who are authorized officials and chaperones may board the bus. Buses may not be on schedule the first few days. Please be patient.

+ Curriculum There are state standards for early childhood We use a guided reading approach and our goal is to have the students reading or very close by the end of kindergarten Children develop skills at different paces Keep open line of communication with teachers They will post weekly curriculum on their webpage

+ Assessments Benchmark assessments – 3 times a year in both reading and math DRA – Direct Reading Assessment. This gives us more specific information about a child’s strengths and weaknesses in developing literacy skills Please try to attend conferences and don’t be afraid to ask questions about your child’s progress. Report cards have been changed this year to give parents better feedback that is more in line with the state standards

+ Olweus Bullying Prevention We take this seriously We do more preventative Intervention is a small part of the program Class meetings are held one time a cycle to discuss friendship and classroom community Teachers will address this more at teacher presentation. Encourage you to come to parent information meetings.
