 Development of the Framework  Architecture of the Framework  Science and Engineering Practices  Disciplinary Core Ideas  Cross-cutting Concepts  Implementation Timeline Yesterday:

 Draw a card from the stack  Answer in writing  Read your reflection to the group  Other group members add their ideas  When everyone is finished, decide on 3 main ideas/concerns to present to the room. Reflections:

 Physical Science: Wonderful World of Water  Life Science: Polar Bears  Earth Science: Weather and Climate Three K-2 Grade Band Lessons:

Using the K-12 Education Framework…  Determine the Grade-level End Points  Evaluate evidence for Science Practices and Cross-cutting Concepts  Determine possible additional practices and concepts to add.  Suggest ways to adapt the lesson to the NGSS goals. Today’s Goals for each Lesson:

 Engage: generate interest (short section)  Explore: lab, inquiry, discovery etc.  Explain: students describe their understandings  Elaborate: build understanding/related learning  Evaluation: assessment of learning Lesson Plan Format – 5E:

Schools / Districts using Day 2 should use some of the local teacher’s own lessons.

PHYSICAL SCIENCE Wonderful World of Water Analyze and Evaluate

LIFE SCIENCE Polar Bears Analyze and Evaluate

EARTH SCIENCE Weather and Climate Analyze and Evaluate
