The Pink dolphins. How Long Can They Survive? By Derrick Lim

Where do the pink dolphins reside? Lantau Island Macau Soko islands Around Peng Chau

What problems are the dolphins encountering as we speak? Pink Dolphins are being: Over fished Killed by boat traffic Sick and polluted by the dirty water Extremely close to extinction – Only 80 to 140 survive

Fishing issues Fishermen leave waste. Sewers send waste to sea. Pedestrians who cant find a rubbish bin, throw their rubbish to sea. Pink dolphins can be severely injured due to the waste.

Boat Traffic Hong Kong is overpopulated and extremely busy 100 Boats cross the sea every day Dolphins attempt to sense for danger Usually fails Pink dolphins get trapped under the boat Survival rate is extremely low

Water Pollution Sewer waste goes to sea. Dolphins swallow water by mistake. Could cause diseases. Could harmful contain chemicals.

Habitat loss. Reclamation projects destroy pink dolphin habitats Chap Lap Kok airport destroyed over 9.5 km of habitat Dolphins are forced to migrate Many dolphins don’t make it out of danger alive.

My Final Statement - Conclusion This problem affects Hong Kong and all of its citizens. Pink dolphins are extremely rare and should be saved. This problem has to be dealt with before its too late.
