Introduction Do you like make-believe stories? Many people believe made-up religious stories –From Satan himself The Bible is truth –Given by God Himself

Who people said Jesus was Mark 8:27-28 –John the Baptist? –Elijah (carried away 850 years ago)? Jesus had presented who He was –said He was the Son of God –had shown His power by miracles –…but most Jews didn’t believe Who do you believe He is?

Who Peter believed Jesus to be Mark 8:29 –Disciples would never be accepted by God if they didn’t believe truth Mark 8:30 –Disciples not to proclaim that yet –People to learn and believe this truth on their own

Jesus foretold His death and resurrection Mark 8:31 Knew He must die Knew He would be resurrected Can you tell what will happen to you tomorrow? –Get sick or be healthy? –How long will you live? God knows! –Jesus was not a man, was God’s Son

Jesus was transfigured Mark 9:2,3 Jesus was a real man, with a human body –But…different Normally His God- ness was masked by his humanity This event showed His God-ness Like the tabernacle

Moses and Elijah talked with Jesus Mark 9:4 –Moses Died 1,400 years earlier Buried by God Represented the Law –Elijah a Jewish prophet left earth 850 years earlier Represented the prophets –They left heaven to speak with Jesus Luke 9:30-31 –They knew the promised deliverer must be born and die –Talked with Jesus about His death –They knew God’s promises

What God the Father said about Jesus Mark 9:5-8 God the Father speaking Told disciples Jesus is the Son of God This is My beloved Son. Hear Him!

Conclusion God doesn’t speak as a voice anymore –All that He wants to say is in the Bible already God gave us the Bible –God wants us to know and obey it
