Provisional Visit to France 2016 Thursday 23 rd June to Tuesday 28 th June 2016

Where are we going? Chateau Beaumont is situated in the beautiful Mayenne, two miles from the village of Chailland.

Why? Our visit to France allows the children to experience and explore a very different culture and environment. They will be able to use their French language skills in real life situations. They will also have opportunities to try some outdoor team challenge activities.

How will we get there? Coach for duration of visit Ferry – Portsmouth to Caen (overnight ferry) Text messaging for contact / Twitter Example Itinerary Friday – excursion and head to Chateau Saturday – explore shopping in France (French Market and Hypermarket) Sunday – Fougeres and Mont St. Michel Monday – Disneyland Tuesday – Sight seeing in Paris and Boat trip

Return Travel Information Calais to Dover The Chateau estimate we will arrive back at school at approximately 11.00pm on Tuesday 28 th June. (18.50 ferry 1hr 30min)

Where do we stay? At Chateau Beamount in Mayenne. It is a well established environment which has been taking school groups since It is a registered provider for education visits The grounds are peaceful and secure and all activities are conducted safely by trained and fully qualified instructors.

Where do the children sleep? The children sleep in dormitories Staff have separate rooms on the same floor as the children. All bedrooms have full en-suite facilities.

Which adults are going? Mrs. Buxton (Deputy Head and Visit Leader) Mr. Watts (Teacher and Deputy Visit Leader) Miss. Stammers (Year 6 Teacher) Miss. Paul (Year 6 Teacher) Mrs Chambers (Teaching Assistant and qualified First Aider) Additional adults are available, depending on numbers.

How will the children operate? For most activities the children will operate in small groups. Close to departure we will sort out groups and sleeping arrangements, placing children with their friends as far as humanly possible.

Equipment A list of necessary equipment will be available nearer the time Points to stress: Be prepared for all weathers Comfortable walking shoes and clothes.

Children must NOT bring: Hair sprays or other aerosols – asthma sufferers MOBILE PHONES – WE will contact you if anything serious arises

Medication Mrs Chambers will be in charge. Travel sickness Forms to complete nearer the time

Money There is no set amount, however when the pupils go on excursions i.e. Disneyland or to the French Market, they may want to buy a souvenir or a ‘crepe’. £10 a day would be a maximum – the children will be responsible for keeping and spending their money. There are 3 full days. There is also a tuck shop on site.

Safety Just before we leave, pupils will all be given an emergency card and a wristband. The card will have all details, in French, of how to contact Mrs Buxton or Mr Watts in case they get lost.

Luggage Bag for the journey. This needs to include snacks for the stops on Thursday evening and on Friday. The children will be responsible for this at all times and carry it themselves! One suitcase with all their other things in it. The children will be responsible for everything they take. We will not be responsible for any losses or damages! Please name everything
