Present Status of ATF Commissioning 11/4 -Beam operation was started, but we operate the beam in night time only, because we have many hardware work on daylight time. We stored beam in DR around 5e9 with old DR optics w/o vertical steering magnets. 1. construction of ATF2 beam line 2. new RF gun installation 3. realignment of the damping magnets 11/10 -Commissioning of ATF2 beamline was started. The beam was transported to the dump at 11/11. 11/12 - Damping ring tuning with “design optics” was started. We plan to tune the damping ring with “design optics” at least 4 shifts in this week. Hardware changes before 2008 Autumn operation

Comments of Special Optics for Radiation Inspection The beam was transported to the dump only by QD2AFF vertical position change. For making small dispersion Strength is not changed. Same optics to design Strength is not changed. Matching quads The strength of matching quads make large change. -Beam optics in extraction line is not designed one. -We still have some radiation loss in extraction line. -We need study of extraction line optics before high beta optics study. Stripline BPM will be ready in the week of 11/17. Wire Scanners will be ready in the December. - It seems very easy to transport the FF line with this optics.
Comments of Radiation Inspection The parameter of radiation inspection was fixed to more than 40mA in DR. It corresponds to the bunch population of 1e10 for 3 tranin 5 bunch operation. -We must improve the DR injection efficiency. optimize the gun parameters, injection matching and so on. -We must reduce the radiation loss in extraction line.
Beam time requests in November Damping ring retuning RF gun study Laser Compton study 2 shifts, 1 for emittance measurement, and 1 for bunch length measurement Injection Tuning Extraction Study AT present, since the tuning is not enough for the radiation inspection, we need as many as possible Orbit tuning, rough dispersion matching etc. -at least 4 shifts in the week of 11/10. -We will continue the DR retuning. Hardware dedicated studies
Beam time requests in December IP-BSM (Shintake Monitor) Total 4 detector dedicated shifts Dedicated beam time request from oversea collaborators Total 5 dedicated beam time are requested at the end of from Glen White ( Flight Simulator ) 2 from Steve ( Flight Simulator, Eddy Current, problematic extraction BPM ) 2 from Mauro Pivi ( QM7R problem, beta matching from DR to EXT ) Laser Compton study Optics diagnostics and matching etc. Extraction Study Final Focus Beamline (High Beta Optics) Study - at least 1 for beam orbit tuning - 2 for optics matching and make small waist at IP with carbon wire
