The Heaven’s Gate suicide of 1997, the Hare Krishna, and the Church of Scientology are just a few examples of present cult-like groups. Not all groups are as extreme as others, but one thing they all have in common is the search for a truth, unity, and peace. Regrettably, the end goal is often masked by the desire for power and control which is inevitably a trait often found in the leader.

Contemporizing Pesher Contemporizes The original prophet was foretelling something about the contemporary time of the interpreter. The original context is ignored. New Testament also does this. This makes pesharim valuable as a historical source for the Qumran period.
