Kidney Cysts By Cathryn Andrews and Ashley Sinclair

A kidney cyst is a fluid filled clear sac.

Tennis Table Ball!. Microscopic size!

A simple cyst has blood vessel in the walls of the cyst. A complex cyst has irregularities either on the surface or inside the cyst itself. It is usually irregular in surface shapes. Simple vs. Complex Hyper dense cyst

The cause is not known for cysts to occur but it is not genetic. Half of the people over the age of 50 have a kidney cyst.

A kidney cyst can be found by ultrasound, x-ray, MRI, or CT scan.

Treatment One type of treatment is aspiration which is placing a needle thru the skin to suck out the fluid in the cyst. Another type is sclerosis which is an injection of material to schlerose, or scar down the space in the cyst.
