Mission Statement Crowd Sync aims to connect event goers so they will always know what is going on and what their peers are saying in real time.

Representative Tasks Task #1: Find the location of something at an event Task #2: Gauge the popularity of an event attraction and what people are saying about it Task #3: Make your own comment about an event attraction

Experimental Method We found several people in the CS labs and obtained their permission to participate in a usability test using candy. From there, Derek explained the purpose of our app and the scenario that they would be performing. Angela played the part of the computer while the subject navigated our app. Jake and Padma observed and took notes.

Results All 3 tasks were performed in a very short amount of time for every participant, thanks to the flat and interconnected UI structure. One of the subjects liked it a lot, wanted to know if we were actually making it. The usefulness of the map was crippled by lack of position. Navigation speed was slowed down by lack of visual cues, inconsistent labeling.

UI Changes Add a marker to the map to represent your current position o Two of our testers noted that, while they could find the event they want, they didn't know where THEY were Make clickable UI elements more visible o Testers had to think for a while before making the correct action despite plain text labels o Highlight artist names for better findability o Label artists and stage names

Summary After usability testing we learned: The interface overall is quite intuitive and enables rapid completion of tasks The UI needs to have more usability (highlighting relevant information/UI elements) and consistency.

Connect people and events in a way never possible before.
