Name: Timothy H. Class Period: 4 th period

Setting Most of the story takes place in a deadly manmade arena with multiple different terrains in a country called Panem built on a land once called North America.

Characters Katniss Everdeen is the main character who hunts illegally to help her family. She is clever for killing two tributes with Tracker Jackers. Peeta Mellark is the male tribute from District 12. He is dedicated because he risked his life to save Katniss’s. Gale is Katniss’s hunting partner who doesn’t do much in the book, but remains in her thoughts. Prim is her younger sister who is very thoughtful and also haunts her thoughts.

Plot: Conflict The problem is that Katniss is forced into an arena where twenty-four different tributes must fight to the death in a free-for-all for glory. She took her sisters place in these deadly games and she is also struggling with her emotions about Peeta.

Plot: Resolution The resolution is that Katniss and Peeta outsmart the gamemakers and both win the games.

My Opinion I think it was a great book because it had lots of action. I like how the book displays Katniss’s every thought and leaves the reader begging for the next book when they get to the ending.

About the Author Suzzane Collins is the author of the Underland series. She lives in Connecticut. She used to write children's shows. She also used to write for Scholastic. The Hunger Games was on the New York Times bestseller list for sixty weeks in a row.

5 Test Questions What is the name of Prim’s cat? Who did Rue remind Katniss of? According to Haymitch, one kiss equals what? How did Foxface’s strategy help her survive, and how did it kill her? How did Thresh feel about Rue?

Summary On the day of the Reaping, Katniss Everdeen takes her sister’s place in the deadly Hunger Games along with male tribute Peeta Mellark. They take training and enter the arena with twenty-two other tributes. Halfway through the games, the gamemakers announce that the two tributes from each district can team up. When they are the only two left though, the gamemakers take back their remark, but they get outsmarted and announce both tributes from District 12 winners.
