Verbatim a word for word copy of someone else's writing. If not cited this is called plagiarism Example Mrs. Flores said to make sure we have 150 hours of CAS.

Parenthetical citation Citation provided after the quotation or paraphrase using a parenthesis (Flores 12 ) “I hunched over a stack of ungraded, tragically written essays filled with every imaginable grammar error and misused word possible” ( Flores 1).

Quotation Indicated by “ “. The words written have been copied verbatim from someone else. Mrs. Flores reminds the class to “to make sure we have 150 hours of CAS.”

Paraphrase Ideas of another person have been copied, BUT not their word for word usage. You still need a parenthetical citation. Mrs. Flores believes it is important to have all our CAS hours ( Flores 1).
