Making a Haiku A Japanese poem
A haiku is a poem with 3 lines The first line has 5 syllables Like this: Summer is coming Birds singing pretty Children playing hard They don’t have to rhyme!
The second line has 7 syllables Like this: Sun, shining, hot, yellow haze Kids singing, jumping, running Happy feeling, sleeping days The words don’t have to be in sentences!
The third line has 5 syllables again Like this: Back to school soon – friends! Fall coming fast, run! Waking, hoping, dream! Sum up your poem in the last line!
