Tennessee Valley Authority TVA Kourtney Bartlett

When was the TVA created? -George W. Norris had some great ideas with the land of the Tennessee river. After the dam that was constructed there to generate electricity to make explosives on the war had been given up it had no real purpose. Norris had tried six times to introduce bills for federal development of the area. - On May 18, 1993 Franklin Roosevelt signed the Tennessee Authority Act.

What was the purpose of TVA?  TVA was meant to provide an easier way to travel among it.  Be prepared in some way for a flood.  They wanted to enrich marginal farm land, for better farming.  Wanted to improve lakes so they could be fish-filled. The dam they created would be used to generate electricity. They basically wanted to help agricultural development and assist in the ideas of rebuilding the society.

Who was involved? Such a constructive program was brought forth by George W. Norris sp he played out a role in the TVA. Like the programs and administrations it helped provide more jobs. Just everyday people who needed work would be brought forth for opportunities.Few Negros were hired as janitors. There would be a professional staff handling details

Noble Creations  They created dams to generate electricity.  With this electricity they helped stabilize the nations lowest energy rate.  With things like generating electricity for aluminum plants to produce planes for the war was very important.  In the TVA had completed a 650-mile channel the length of the Tennessee River and had become the nation's largest electricity supplier.

How effective it was.  TVA's power mix as of 2004 was 11 fossil- powered plants, 29 hydroelectric dams, three nuclear power plants, and six combustion turbine plants.  They are one of t he largest electricity producers in America.  They not only worked with electricity but farmers lands also, in the 1930’s there goal set out was to modernize farmers soil.

It is still in use. Why?  The Tva generates a tremendous amount of electricity in the Untied States.  They have help stabilize our country in several different ways including jobs.
