Itzhak Tserruya, BNL, Aug. 11, Detector location and size Location: around the beam pipe, occupy space from r=5 cm to r=61 cm. Acceptance (active area larger than central arm acceptance): - in z direction |η| ≤ 0.4 : z = 45cm - in φ direction Δφ = 100 o at r = 55 cm: s = 96 cm Segmentation: - along the beam axis: 2 pieces - along the azimuthal axis: 4 pieces Total: 16 detector elements 23 x 26 cm 2 each

Itzhak Tserruya, BNL, Aug. 11, Gas, HV and LV Stainless steel pipes for CF 4 : gas in 1/2”, gas out 1”. + N 2 line. The HBD has a total of 112 SHV HV connectors: Each ½ detector has 56 SHV HV connectors (28 on the bottom and 28 on the top). i.e. 7HV per sector. These are supplied by two power supplies through resistive chain. total of 32 HV cables from the HV rack to the detector. LV (not yet specified)
6 Readout Board + Preamps Hybrid Preamps with line drivers ~ ¾” honeycomb Read pads ~ 3x3 cm 2 Preamp signals to shaper + ADC wires GEMs Being developed by BNL Instrumentation Based on IO-535 ± input signal ± 2.5 V output From C. Woody DC meeting Need almost one full rack for the readout electronics
Itzhak Tserruya, BNL, Aug. 11, Material, weight radiation length The detector box is made of 3/4” thick honeycomb structures sandwiched between two G10 sheets ¼ mm thick. Entrance window: double mylar window 50 μ thick with inter volume flushed with N 2. Total radiation budget of detector box and electronics of about 1.5%. Total weight of app. 5kg per half detector.
