***Action Verbs REMEMBER: Class Notes go on the right side of your notebook! Verbs express action or a state of being An action verb tells what action a subject (noun) is performing Examples: BRAINSTORM

Explore Ted talks For the remainder of class, you will be using an iPad to explore different Ted Talks on “ted.com” The purpose of this talk exploration is to give YOU an opportunity to find new knowledge or a new way of thinking about a topic you’re already familiar with. You will also be sharing this with a classmate, so be prepared to be the “expert” on your talk. After you have picked up an iPad, you will open Safari and go to “ted.com.” Look around, but you only have five minutes to choose the video you will watch. Look for titles that interest you! We’re on a limited schedule, choose a video that is between 12 and 18… minutes. Begin watching your chosen video. As you watch, look for things the speaker says that challenges you, inspires you, brings new meaning to your brain, etc. When you have finished watching your video, turn to the next left side of your notebook… Using this technology is a privilege. Show me you can handle it responsibly.

Title the page as “Ted Talk: (name of your chosen talk) On your left sided page Summarize the talk – what were the 3 main points the speaker focused on? Details – Recall particular information the speaker presented that you found interesting. What you be excited to share with another person about your found Ted talk? Evaluate – What new information did you learn from this speaker? How has your thinking been changed, developed, or strengthened? *** These should be written in complete sentences ***You will then share your talk and your notes with a classmate (I will let you know who). Using this technology is a privilege. Show me you can handle it responsibly.

Homework: due 10/6 Finish responding to the questions on the previous slide about your chosen Ted talk. We will have a grammar test that covers nouns, pronouns, adjectives, and verbs on Thursday, 10/6
