HOUSTON COUNTY SCHOOL SYSTEM SUPPLEMENTAL RESOURCE for GEORGIA BEST Responsibility and Organization

RESPONSIBILITY AND ORGANIZATION When you open your book bag, do you have to rummage around for several minutes looking for your book or assignment? Do you find you are often late to school or appointments or do you miss them all together? Do you have to search through all of your dresser drawers looking for one missing sock to match the one you need to wear?

RESPONSIBILITY AND ORGANIZATION If you answered “Yes” to these questions, you may need help getting organized.

RESPONSIBILITY AND ORGANIZATION Employers and teachers feel two good work habits are:  Effective time management  Organizational skills Good time management techniques allow you to simultaneously manage life at home, at school, and on the job

TIME MANAGEMENT TECHNIQUES Ask for Help  Don’t fear being seen as intrusive or dumb  Go to the expert for assistance Prioritize  Organize your appointments/tasks from most important to least important  Ask yourself How critical is each activity or expectation? How long will it take from start to finish to complete each activity? What do you need to complete each activity?

TIME MANAGEMENT TECHNIQUES Set timetables  Measure how you are doing  Use a pocket, wall, or desk calendar  Mark activity due dates  Fill in dates with “mini steps” that it will take to complete the big assignment
